Manager Omer Riza spoke to the press on Wednesday.
“We know the position we’re in and we’re focused on what we need to do to try to get out of that. In respect of how we are, they’re all working hard.
“I think everyone is aware of what the scores are when things like this happen and you’re playing a later kick-off. Again, I think it’s just about us managing our own situation and performing to the best of our ability with the games that we’ve got. We can’t afford to look at the other games and think it’s going to help us or not. We’re just fully focused on we need to try to do.
“I’m not looking at how many points it’s going to take. I think we can just deal with what is present and stay in the moment; that’s what’s important now. If you start thinking of what you need and having positive or negative thoughts around that, it leads to other pressures and other situations. We take every game as it comes and try to remain focused on what we need to do.
“Unfortunately, you have to go through these moments to become better and a better version of yourself. It’s a tough position, but I’m not shirking responsibility and I’m up for the challenge. That’s been since day one and it isn’t going to change right until the end.
“I think it’s the same with how we’ve tried to approach every game, and that’s to be fully focused on making sure that every player is ready from start to finish, and that every staff member has done what they’ve needed to do to make sure that every player is ready.
“I think rather than forecast what’s going to happen, talking about whether they’ve lost their last three and now they should win their fourth because their manager is going to be on them, or whether we’ve not been able to win our last game and forecast that we are to lose against Sheffield United because they’re higher up in the table than us, I think the mindset is 'let’s see what happens'. Rather than go down the route of this could happen and that could happen, we have to be focused on believing we can win the game.
“My message to the fans is always the same. We thank them for everything they’ve done for us this year. There’s a lot of travelling and they spend a lot of money, whether it’s in the cold or sunshine. We need them. They will be there again in their numbers and there’s a really good core of supporters at this Club. They are there and they know what their main objective is, which is to support the players no matter what. When you have fans like that, they’re very important to the Club."
