It turned into the proverbial game of two halves with the opening period seeing Cardiff in control. Filip Kiss on his debut made a telling contribution in midfield and Gunnarsson as the spoiling midfielder ensured Yeovil were kept away from the City defensive third.
Craig Fagan made some good runs and Jon Parkin showed some nice touches.
City's pressure paid off when a Cowie corner was sweetly struck by Whittingham to give City the lead.
The dominance by the Bluebirds didn't create enough clear chances though and Yeovil started to push forward as the interval approached.
Less than 10 mins into the second half and Yeovil were level. A free kick from the left was not dealt with at all and Ehmner scored his first ever Yeovil goal.
The second half saw 9 Cardiff subs and even though Gestede looked sharp, Earnie looked to be involved as much as possible and Kenny Miller came on, the flow of the game was towards the City goal. Yeovil were the team on the up and Heaton had to make a couple of saves and some last ditch defending from City kept the scores level. While we had Miller and Earshaw up front we had several younger / reserve players on the field.
With 20 players used Malky Mackay has again had chance to looked at his squad. I would expect to see a line up on Saturday against Parma starting to resemble the line up he wants for the West Ham game on Sunday week.
Just under 300 City fans attended in a crowd on 1377.
