Breen's dismissal changed the shape of the game and Cardiff City capitalised.

"Gary Breen was adamant from the time of his dismissal that no intent was involved," Wolves secretary Richard Skirrow told the club's official website.

"He was demonstrating to the assistant referee that he himself had been caught in a challenge with Steve Thompson, who also tried to appeal on Gary's behalf.

"On viewing video evidence on Monday, the club felt an appeal was justified."

Breen's red card was issued for violent conduct and if the appeak fails he will face a three match ban.
