Daniel speaking to the Western Mail in Azerbaijan said
"I wanted to be involved, but I could still feel the back problem at the training session. The back had felt better, but I could still feel something there and training sessions are a lot less strenuous than matches. I did not want to risk what happened at Barnsley and I had to be honest with Mark Hughes. It was probably one of the toughest of my career. "I thought I would recover in time because I have had a lot of treatment on the back but it just did not clear up in time."
The rest from playing may help Daniels attempt to be ready for Sunday but will the 5,000 mile round trip have done any good?
It will be a big blow for City and the player if he ends up missing City's game on the weekend as well as the Wales game.
