"If you are going to make mistakes this is probably the best time to make them - and we certainly made some mistakes at the back.
"We've been working hard defensively as a team, but we have probably made more mistakes in one game than we did for long spells of last year.
"As a unit at the back they can't hide from the fact they didn't do their jobs. That's what we'll be looking at and working on in the next couple of weeks."
"We didn't look solid at the back, but, until the own goal went in, they looked comfortable.
"Maybe they fell into the trap of overplaying and being too confident. Pursey has come back today and probably looked rusty. It's his first full game in pre-season and he needs games to sharpen up.
"But I have never won or lost any points in pre-season and it doesn't matter what you do, it's all about being ready for the first game of a long campaign."
