Report from Western Daily Press
The lights went out on Weston in the last 5 minutes of the game last night.
With 5 minutes remaining and Weston trailing 2-1 referee Paul Hoskins brought the game to a premature end when the floodlights failed.

"It didn't make a difference to the score when the lights went out" said Cardiff Chairman Sam H, who was at the match at woodspring park.

It was Weston's first friendly of the season and manager Frank Gregan will be reasonably happy with the outcome against their second division rivals who fielded a mix of seasoned pro's and academy players.

Weston unveiled 6 new signings went close with old boy Jimmy Cox close to scoring in the opening minute.

In the 20th minute Weston's Keeper Malesa made a superb save to deny Cardiff and then almost took the lead with a Danny O'Hagen header

It was Cardiff who broke the deadlock first though, after 35 minutes a poorly cleared corner at the far post saw a Cardiff player prod home from close range.

In the second half with plenty of changes, Weston trialist Mark Palmer went close with only the keeper to beat but it was Cardiff who put the game beyond Weston's reach after 53 minutes.

On the 77th minute, Westons Cross and Meldew combined from a corner to pull back a late consolation but all hopes of an equaliser disappeared with the lights!
