First up, and best of all, Lennie has kindly agreed to be special guest on the Cardiff City phone-in between 6 to 7pm tomorrow with Steve Johnson and Keith Cooper. This is finally your chance to ask the main man those questions that have been running through your mind. How do Cardiff City compare to his other clubs? Why not ask him about tactics and those lack of wingers all season when we now have two at once? What does he feel about City's support home and away? How does Lennie rate our rivals? Most
importantly of all, why does he keep cupping his hands behind his ears every time he goes to the touchline to communicate with his players?
GTFM, if you don't know, is on 106.9FM in the Valley and South Wales regions but can also be heard on the internet via http://www.glam.ac.uk/gtfm/download.php Call the show on 01443 - 654654 (the show will call you back) or e-mail your questions to gtfm@glam.ac.uk
However, music lovers are in for a treat too as Lennie takes a temporary return to his d.j. days by hosting the station's subsequent "Livewire" programme between 7pm and 10pm. He will also read the 8pm news bulletin.
Known to many in the South London as The Rockin'Robin (Robin being Lennie's real first name), Lawrence used to combine his teaching job before football by being a d.j. at London pubs and clubs including high profile appearances at Talk of the Town and The Hippodrome. When in charge of Charlton Athletic, Lennie also famously hosted his own show on Capital Radio for 2 months during a close season to help The Valiants promote their successful return to The Valley.
Lennie will be bringing his own record collection which he quips, is probably more expansive than John Peel's!!
A huge fan of Tamla Mowtown and Stax records, Lennie ran the UK fans clubs for major '60's Soul act Sam & Dave as well as Tamla Legends Martha and The Vandellas in his youth. Lennie's tireless promotion of Rockers Revenge version of "Walking on Sunshine" is believed to have introduced the song to the UK d.j. world and made it a massive 80's disco classic while he also
introduced Grandmaster Flash - of "The Message" and "White Lines" fame - to these shores. A huge fan of dub, Rockin'Robin'sReggae (or Triple R as it became later known) was an essential Friday/Saturday nighter for the young folk of South London in the mid-70's so expect some of that too, we are told.
And don't be surprised if Lennie also shows another side to his "street cred" by playing songs by The Coral, The White Stripes, Ms Dynamite and Red Hot Chilli Peppers - all are regularly played by him on the team coach according to insiders. This is one football man with no Phil Collins in his collection - thank God!!!
If you've no plans for tomorrow, you could do a lot worse than have A Night-In With Lennie.
Friday's guest on the Cardiff City Phone-In will be "Disco" Des Hamilton.
Spot the city manager in this photo from yesteryear. Also for bonus points where is Lennie's school pal Steve Kember (now at Crystal Palace)
