Cardiff boss Dave Jones is expected to assess the fitness of Chris Riggott before naming his team.
The defender finally made his Bluebirds debut on Boxing Day, lasting 68 minutes of the win against Coventry.
MATCH PREVIEW
Boxing Day's home win against Coventry took Cardiff back up to second in the Championship and was a major boost for the Welsh side, who had lost three of their previous four matches and seemed to be wobbling badly.
They will want to build on that victory when they visit Vicarage Road, where they have fared well in recent years. Cardiff have enjoyed three consecutive wins there and have not been beaten since February 2006.
Watford are in decent form, however. The Hornets, who are 11th in the table, are unbeaten in four matches and will relish the opportunity to cause another upset, having recently beaten leaders QPR.
Cardiff have been excellent away from home at times this season, and a victory would see them register an unrivalled seventh win on the road. But they have lost their last two away matches.
