"I would love to play for Cardiff City again if that chance came," said Walton, who has three years remaining on his Charlton contract.
"They have huge potential with the new stadium coming along and they also have a lot of quality players."
This is seen by many though as an attempt to build a bridge after comments made from Walton's Myspace account appeared on his friends website. Claims he denies.
A posting from the account "Walts" made at 4:46 on Sunday morning (which has since been removed) said
****in cardiff the ****s!!! Wish i would stop gettin shit for it tho cos dont even play for them anymore. But still we needed to win our game and we didnt!
The poster was referring to Leeds' failure to beat Ipswich.
Walton denies any knowledge about any emails (although this was a Myspace posting, it's different) saying
"I know nothing about them.
'I enjoyed my time with Cardiff City and would not say nasty things about a club who gave me a chance.
"The fact that I did not take that opportunity and have missed the last five matches because of suspension is down to my silly attitude.
'I let myself down and the club down in that respect.
"I was called in by the gaffer (manager Dave Jones) and he asked me about the e-mails.
'I told him they were nothing to do with me.
"I chose to join Cardiff City on loan ahead of Ipswich Town and one or two other clubs.
'Cardiff City was the team I wanted to play for."
If they were not made by Walton then they were made by someone who was logged into his Myspace account. Walton's Myspace has now been made into a private website where only approved "friends" can see his profile.
