Kenwyne Jones could be sidelined for a couple of weeks after suffering an injury while playing for Trinidad & Tobago last week.
Jones was expected back to be available for City's trip to Preston but the T&T FA announced that Jones had suffered a heavy blow on the leg while playing against Nicaragua on Thursday.
Part of the statement reads:
“Team Doctor Israel Dowlat stated that Jones sustained soft tissue injury to the left lower leg. He is presently non-weightbearing with crutches and is on anti inflammatory medication. He should be able to take the field again in at least two weeks.
“Right now, the prognosis is touch and go and depends on how the injury settles over the next 5 days or so—both with the rest and medication being administered,” Tenille Clarke is reported as saying. “It’s still very early to make a finite call on the lay-off period needed for his full recovery.
“Of course, this position is tentative and we’ll be sure to have a development once some time passes, and all requisite checks are made upon Kenwyne’s return to (his) home base in Wales.”
Jones played the previous game as well, scoring in a 2 - 1 win over Panama.
Russell Slade said on Saturday:
"We don't know how long he'll be out for."
It's a second blow for Slade after Bruno Manga was injured while with Gabon.
