The Sep 1st closure of the transfer window does not affect Cardiff City, or other Nationwide League clubs to the extent you may expect. To clarify the situation Football league spokesman John Nagle issued a statement explaining how the system operates.
"Once again, The Football League will not be implementing the transfer window system on a domestic basis. Consequently, Football League clubs will be free to operate under the same ‘open’ system as used last season."
This means that Nationwide League clubs can trade freely between each other and the leagues below up until the traditional transfer deadline day on March 25th. Nationwide league clubs cannot sell or loan players to Premier League clubs or clubs from foreign leagues until the window opens on Jan 1, 2004.
Nationwide teams can however bring in Premiership players on loan and then purchase them aferwards at any time.
So basically we can buy and sell within the Nationwide leagues, we can add Premiership players to the current squad and buy them after initially taking them on loan, the only thing we cannot do is sell any of our squad to a Premiership or foreign team.
