"Of course we'd love to bring somebody in before Thursday's transfer deadline and, believe me, we are trying," Lawrence told the Echo.
"But it has to be somebody who is battle hardened, who is playing regularly.
"If we do sign a player then it has to be someone who can make an instant impact. We cannot afford to have somebody who has been out for some time and is trying to regain fitness.
"With Junichi Inamoto it was the right move and he did a good job for us."
