City face Sheff Utd (H) on Saturday, Watford (A) on Boxing Day and Preston (A) on Saturday week before Thompson would be eligable for the home New Years Day match against Plymouth.
That's the day the transfer window opens. Thompson has been on the list since the summer. The freak "babana boat" injury pre season saw Thommo stay at Ninian Park and has since regained his place and become a certain starter but comments to the Scottish press last week did little to endear him to the management.
"It is a battle of wills at the moment," he told the Scottish Herald. "I really did burst my balls to get back fit again, yet I read him (Dave Jones) in the papers saying I am fitter than I have ever been and that it is a testament to the Cardiff staff. The physios have had a lot of input and kept my spirits up throughout it all but I feel I deserve some praise for doing the work.
"I have shown character to overcome everything that has gone on and that character has helped me get back into the team and score goals. I just found that statement odd - it is as if he is loath to praise me even though he has found it necessary to bring me back.
"We rarely speak to each other but we have a working relationship. He said I have not asked to come off the transfer list. I never asked to be put on it in the first place, so how can I request that I come off it?"
The full interview with Steve Thompson can be found here.
Responding to his words Chairman Peter Ridsdale said
"We have seen the comments and myself and Dave will meet to see if any action should be taken, but that will all be done internally.
"But it will not be the case that Steve Thompson will be leaving the club over those comments."
It's likely Thompson could be fined for the quotes he gave.
