It's thought an initial £6m investment is on the cards that will see TG (who has already been made a director at Cardiff City) lead a group that will take control of the football club securing it's short term future by covering the immediate debts and then look to build a solid business plan for the future removing the risk of administration and the threats of being wound up.
I've heard unofficially from a source close to the club that talks went well on Friday and a deal is very close. This was re-inforced on Friday evening when TG, in the company of Steve Borley, spoke to 1927 Club Chairman and MB regular Matt Gabb (Thames Valley Bluebird) on the phone.
TG was happy to say that "subject to a few things, I'm in."
It's the clearest indication yet that the clubs future could be secured.
The club issued it's own official statement saying
"The board of directors of Cardiff City Football Club and Dato' Chan Tien Ghee are pleased to confirm that discussions over the last few days have continued in a positive and productive manner with a view to a further planned investment in the football club.
"Both parties are working towards this further investment being concluded by the end of April this year.
"Investment will be subject to the satisfaction by the club of a number of conditions which are designed not only to stabilise the finances of the football club but also to ensure that the club is structured appropriately to build on the progress that has already been made."
Tien Ghee added: "I am extremely hopeful that with goodwill on all sides we will be able to conclude matters quickly and for the benefit of the club and I look forward to playing my part in the future success of Cardiff City."
When asked about the Malaysians interest City boss Dave Jones said
"They are keen. We've been talking about pre-season in Malaysia so I'd be very surprised if things don't go right."
He added: "We're waiting for the investment. Everyone is praying it all goes well and we can get things sorted."
All of a sudden Peter Ridsdale has gone very quiet. Sources tell me that Ridsdale is likely to remain at Cardiff City due to his contract. It seems it will take a substantial wedge to remove him from post.
It appears that the people behind the new investment are no mugs and will take a much tighter reign over the finances. Hopefully Cardiff City can be run like a proper business and the future of the club can be a prosperous one.
Personally I feel a whole lot more confident that the knife edge we've been on of late is about to become a thing of the past.
