Cardiff City out-gunned Norwich at Ninian Park this afternoon. Over 16,300 saw Norwich look cool and composed as they took control of the early exchanges. I must admit that pre match I wasn't expecting to get anything from the game. 15 mins in and I'd seen enough to back up my pessimism and thought Norwich would control and go on to win the game. The best chance fell to Svensson who headed over.

Then the game swung City's way. Paul Parry took possession out left, he aimed a cross for Earnie but not being the biggest forward in the Division he could not reach it and it took everyone by surprise to see the ball fly past the Norwich keeper into the net. It was similar to gary Croft's effort from the other touchline at Wimbledon.

2 minutes later Parry broke free in space, it looked like he might take a crack at goal as the goalkeeper came out but he cleverly squared for Earnie to steer the ball into the empty net.

Earnie somersaulted, the crowd went wild.

Prior to the goals Earnie had put one lob over the bar and was inches away from connecting to a cross that was cleared.

City nearly made it three when Alan Lee headed against a post.

Half time came and there was no kids football on the pitch. Sam Hammam and Russell Goodway signed an agreement that should see the way now for work to commence on the building of a new stadium for Cardiff City. With the speeches coming through the PA system it wasn't that easy to understand exactly what was going on but it looks as if the final hurdle has been overcome and a completion date of 2006 has been set.

The feel good factor carried into the second half, a surging break down the left saw a cross heading towards Alan Lee, he cleverly let the ball go through his legs to the unmarked Robinson. Robbo aimed high and the keeper pulled off an exceptional save to keep the score at 2 - 0.

If it had gone to 3 - 0 it would have been game over. Norwich took heart from this and set about their comeback. 55 mins and Leon McKenzie scored from 16 yards out. There was unease as City had to fight off the Norwich attacks. At the time I found it extremely nerve-wracking. Now after the game Norwich didn't actually force Margetson into a save. Margetson made two stunning catches from crosses but that was it.

4 mins of added time ticked agonisingly by with sub Richard langley doing his utmost to hold possession in the Grandstand / Grange End corner. 4 mins into injury time and Norwich won a free kick 30 yards out, the ball was played into the City box but headed away for a Norwich throw. Then Jeff Winter blew his whistle to the relief of the City fans.

During the game Lennie took off Paul Parry who had taken a knock on his leg. Richard Langley came on. Alan Lee was replaced by Gavin Gordon and then a bizarre substitution. Gary Croft dislocated his shoulder. He was taken off and Spencer Prior brought on but just after Prior came on the physio popped Croft's shoulder back into place and he wanted to come back on.

Daniel Gabbidon was the class player on the pitch, in one particular moment in the first half he made a fool out of Darren Huckerby and was chopped down by the Norwich striker. Rereree Jeff Winter issued no yellow cards in the game as he used the common sense approach and had a word in the ear of any offenders.

City stay in 14th place 7 points behind the play off places. 49 points now on the board, survival all but assured. Next it's Reading at Ninian Park on Tuesday.
