Speaking to the Echo Ali outlined some of his concerns with the clubs management.
"I kept telling them the real sponsors of this club are on the terraces, not in the corporate boxes. They are just interested in the prawn sandwich-eating brigade. I'm not surprised that a lot of fans say it doesn't feel like their club any more. I feel sorry for Sam - he's a great man, but he doesn't know what's going on."
The full contents of his letter are unknown.
David Temme in response is quoted as saying
"The club wishes to thank him for the work he has done. If there are any sour grapes from Ali, I'm sorry. We have had no complaints from supporters and Ali is expressing a personal opinion."
Ali also put straight the events of May 1st 2002. Just minutes were remaining of City's play off second leg with Stoke and the Bluebirds were winning on aggregate. The Millennium Stadium was close, but not that close. Then came an announcement on the tannoy telling fans to stay off the pitch as the team would do a lap of honour. A minute later Stoke scored and went on to win promotion in Cardiff 10 days later.
Ali takes up the story
"The club's safety officer came to me with 15 minutes to go and asked me to say it. I knew it was the kiss of death - I told the guy he was mad. But he insisted on the announcement, so he did it himself.
"Ever since, I've had people come up to me going on about it - and I didn't even do it!"
