Bellamy`s troublesome knee problems have been well documented and the Bluebirds have had to be patient with the forward this term, using him sparingly at times to keep him in the best shape possible.
The 31-year-old last month insisted he was almost back to 100% having arrived from Manchester City "a wreck".
New Wales boss Speed told BBC Radio Wales: "I`ve spoken to Craig and I`ll hopefully see him on Tuesday or Wednesday as well.
"I know Craig really well from my time my with Wales and Newcastle, I`ve got a lot of respect for him and we`ll see how he`s feeling about the situation and how his injury is getting on.
"We`ve all got to be aware that he sometimes struggles to play a lot of games on the trot so maybe it might be a case of picking and choosing for Craig. But if he can help us in any way then I`ll be grateful of that.
"We`ll have to sit down and discuss it at length with Craig and maybe even Dave Jones and see what transpires there, and see what Craig`s thinking and which way he wants to go."
