James Collins scored the only goal of the game when the Southend defence failed to clear a corner Collins was on hand to fire the ball into the roof of the net. Chris Barker was said to be "ourstanding". Youngsters Stuart Fleetwood and Richard Ingram did well in attack with Fleetwoods pace being very impressive.
