Less than 10 months after taking over from Malky Mackay the curtain has fallen on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign at Cardiff City.
After vivid speculation over the last 24 hours the club have today released a statement with comments from owner Vincent Tan, Chairman Mehmet Dalman and from Ole himself.
The decision is mutual with Ole saying he decided to step aside because of a difference in philosopy.
I'm guessing that means Tan wants to see the team win on a regular basis.
From 25 league games Solskjaer won just five, drew five and lost 15. After a bright start to the season with 7 points from the opening three games it all went wrong and three defeats and a draw in the last four games has forced the change. The one point gained was against Fulham who have lost every other game they have played.
Danny gabbidon and Scott Young will take charge of the team for the trip to Derby on Saturday.

Full statement:
Cardiff City Football Club wishes to confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjær has stepped down from his position of first team manager with immediate effect today following recent discussions.
Speaking on the news, Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman said, "Having spoken with Ole on deciding the best course of action for all parties, I'm sorry to say that we have agreed that it is in the best interest of the Club for us to go our separate ways.
"Ole has been a wonderful professional to work with since his arrival at the Club. Due to a difference in philosophy of approach to the game, we have decided to part company amicably. He and his family will always be welcome at Cardiff City. I know I have gained a good friend whom I wish well and remain confident in his future success."
Tan Sri Vincent Tansaid, "Ole was hired by Cardiff City on our understanding and belief that he would help us fight relegation from the Barclays Premier League. Unfortunately that did not happen. After the Club was relegated many people advised me to let him go, but I decided to keep Ole on for the Championship season. Regrettably our recent results do not justify Ole's continued role as manager at Cardiff.
"Ole has therefore decided to step down and I have accepted this. During my short association with Ole, I have found him to be an honest and hardworking professional, but unfortunately the football results were not in his favour. As long as I am the owner of this Club, Ole and his family will always be welcome in the Chairman's Suite as my guests. I wish Ole the very best in his future career in football. We now begin the process of finding his replacement and working towards giving all our stakeholders in Cardiff City the results they deserve."
Ole Gunnar Solskjærsaid, "I want to thank Vincent for giving me the opportunity to manage Cardiff City FC. He has my full respect and I really wish him all the best in his pursuit of making this football club successful. However, our difference in philosophy on how to manage the club made me decide to step aside and allow the Club to move forward in the direction Vincent wants.
"I leave the Club with some very talented players and want to thank them for their efforts and hope to see them challenge for promotion this season. I also want to thank Mehmet Dalman for his continued and loyal support and feel I have gained a new friend."
To date Cardiff City have won two, drawn two and lost three of the opening Sky Bet Championship fixtures and is currently in 17th place in the Championship table. The Club has also progressed to the third round of the Capital One Cup in a fixture to be played next week. All at Cardiff City would like to thank Ole for his professionalism and contribution to the Club, wishing him every future success.
Danny Gabbidonand Scott Young will be taking the team this Saturday for the trip to Derby County. Danny returned to the Club as a player/coach this month, having enjoyed five highly successful years at Cardiff City between 2000 and 2005. Fellow fan favourite Scott is currently coaching in the Academy; the former Welsh International defender having spent his entire league playing career at Cardiff City before making the move to run our Community Foundation prior to his summer Academy appointment.
