Sky asked Tony Pulis about Jay and he replied "I think Dave Jones would be delighted you are touting his players around, but we will do our business the way we do our business and that is through the right channels."
Bothroyd, who has already scored four times this season, is in the final year of his contract. No new deal has been discussed according to the player.
"I've not been offered a contract," Bothroyd told The Echo.
"I don't know if they are going to offer me one. I'm not on the board or anything so I don't know. It's down to them.
"I'm not in talks. All I can do is keep playing well and see what happens, but that (a new deal) hasn't happened yet.
"I am just concentrating on my football. I'm enjoying it. I love Cardiff and I love the fans.
"I owe a lot to Cardiff for giving me a stage to express myself.
"I'm thinking about my next game. I'm not thinking about things long-term or contracts."
The transfer window closes at the end of the month. City may well have to move out a player or two to alow Jones to complete his business for players coming in. Let's hope Bothroyld is not one of those on the way out.
