"Newcastle are the best side we have faced so far this season and you have to fancy them to be right up there as the season goes on.
"After they got the goal they made it very hard for us to get back in it.
"They dropped back and were very solid. It is something a lot of the teams in the Championship can learn from, us included.
"The winning goal was disappointing. We thought we had cleared the corner, but it's come back in and we've let him get a head on it.
"It's about the second phase and I guess it is still something we will need to look at when we get back out on the training pitch this week.
"But saying that, I thought we matched them for most of the game.
"After that goal I really could not see them scoring another from open play.
"We were not at our best, but it was an improvement on the performance when we lost at Doncaster so we will take that positive and try to keep things moving forward."
Next up Reading?
"They have had a slow start to the season by their standards and we will be going there hoping to make sure that is the way things continue," Hudson concluded.
