Skint City uses season ticket money to pay bills
Last updated : 27 January 2010 By Michael Morris
A lack of investment has forced the chairman to use available income to try to pay bills and debts meaning the playing squad will not be added to despite public statements that it would.
While the following press release is not a surprise, I've expected as much for several weeks, it's a slap in the face of those who were asked to buy season tickets early (myself included), and who were then told earlier this month by Peter Ridsdale
"We will be bringing in new players this month, I can guarantee that.
"I would go so far as to say that come January 31, we will be holding a press conference to parade the players we have brought in during the month."
They were hollow words. Spoken in hope rather than in fact.
What saddens me is that Dave Jones and the squad are performing relative miracles. We might just make the play offs with the squad that we have. Dave Jones will turn out to be some sort of genius if he manages that. The last few weeks have seen a steely resolve in our squad of players. They are a tight group and the fans are right behind them. Fans so loyal that they gave their money months in advance to help.
It mentions in the statement a "sale of assetts" which is though to be land rather than personel but you can't rule out the sale of players before next Monday's 5pm transfer deadline.
Cardiff City Club Statement
Statement on behalf of the Board of Directors of Cardiff City Football Club:
Over the last few weeks there has been much speculation with regard to the future of this Club, monies owing to the Inland Revenue and regarding incoming transfers. Until now it has not been possible to make a definitive statement about our current position but we felt that it was now appropriate to update our shareholders and supporters.
