They were hoping for reserve team action this week but both are sidelined for the next few weeks at least.
"They have both broken down and that's a concern for us," said manager Dave Jones.
"Riccy has a groin strain but it is not connected at all with the operation he had.
"It's simply the result of Riccy pushing to get back to fitness.
"It's not serious, but we won't take any risks and he will take a few weeks before he is ready.
"It's really frustrating for both of them and Riccy, in particular, was despondent.
"But the good news is that this injury is nothing to do with anything which has happened before.
"It is a slight strain which comes from pushing to get back to full fitness.
"Tony has had a setback and the doctors have told him to rest for a month.
"If his injury is not ready after that then he will need an operation."
