"It was a hard victory but we started on fire with those two early goals," said Dave Jones. "Fair play to Norwich, they pulled a goal back but we went down the field and scored from the penalty.
"The ball definitely hit their player's hand but some you get and some you don't and this time we had the luck.
"I am never worried about losing any players, and that includes Jay Bothroyd, but it was a silly booking.
"We have a good bench and I am fairly confident that with our strong squad the team will not be affected.
"We have just come through some tough games and we are looking strong and fit but I may change the way we play next week against Swansea as we will not have Jay up front.
"Craig Bellamy was feeling a little tired so we brought him off and Jason Koumas was not a bad replacement for him.
"I am always looking to strengthen the squad and January will be no different. If we can do it we will, but it is not a bad squad here at the moment."
Norwich manager Paul Lambert praised his team despite seeing his players suffer a second defeat in three outings.
He said: "We were excellent getting back into the game and caused them problems, especially in the first half.
"The penalty was a bit strange and though we worked hard to pull that goal back, giving away another straight after was a big blow to us.
"In the first half we gave as good as we got and I can't fault any of my players because on another day we may have had some luck.
"Cardiff just missed out last year and they will be there again this season.
"They hit the bar in the second half and had a couple of near misses and really it just shows how far we have come as a club in the last few seasons when we are disappointed at being beaten by a team now top of the league."
