"I'm feeling good and believe I still have plenty to offer," Scimeca told the Echo.
"I am really looking forward to next season, both from a personal and a club viewpoint. But on a personal level I need a full pre-season followed by matches."
Persistent groin injuries wrecked his chances last season and the end of the season before.
He has only been involved in 16 games in the past two seasons. When he's fit he has been a decent player. Can he stay injury free and make an impact?
"It has been incredibly frustrating," said Scimeca, who had four groin operations in a six-month spell as well as suffering ankle problems.
"The thing with my groin is over and done with," he promised.
"I feel good and still believe I have a lot to offer Cardiff. I need a decent pre-season training programme and then we'll see what happens from there.
"Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale sold me the dream three-and-a-half years ago and I want to be part of that squad that delivers the next part of that dream - promotion to the Premier League.
"I'm 34 this summer and at this stage of my career it's great to be at such a fantastic club.
"Now my job is to make sure I am playing."
