SAM HAMMAM has told manager Lennie Lawrence: "I want promotion THIS season!"
City - who won 5-0 yesterday - are already committed to an outlay of around £1.65m with the recruitment of Tony Vidmar, John Robinson, Richard Langley and Alan Lee so far this campaign, appear to have failed in their bid to bring the Republic of Ireland's Gary Doherty to the club from Spurs.
But with City chairman Hammam getting the green light for his club's new £100m 60,000-capacity stadium from city council planners, it looks like the spending will continue in some earnest.
Cardiff's current transfer record - the £1.8m splashed out to Stoke for striker Peter Thorne two years ago - will be eclipsed soon.

Kav: Fans must keep feet on the ground
CARDIFF CITY skipper Graham Kavanagh appealed to the Ninian Park faithful "to keep their feet on the ground" after their Gillingham demolition job.
City's biggest league win for 18 months propelled Lennie Lawrence's Bluebirds into sixth place in the First Division - the club's highest league position for 32 years.
The Division One new boys find themselves occupying one of the four play-off places after picking up 10 points from their last 12.
But captain Kavanagh urged the long-suffering fans not to get too carried away with City's excellent start to the 2003-04 campaign.
"Things are going well at the moment, but it's vital people here don't get too carried away," said the Irishman.
"We have had some very good results in the last few weeks - but there will be a period when they don't come.
"When that happens it's important everyone here stays calm."
