The Frenchman sat out last weekend due to a one-match ban but may have to settle for a place on the bench after Saints recorded a surprise 3-1 victory over Preston - only their second home win of the season.
Boss Mark Wotte will be unable to call on young striker Kyle McLaggon, however, after he suffered a ruptured Achilles in training which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Poland international Marek Saganowski keeps his place in attack after his double against Preston.
Saints are still without winger Lee Holmes, who is battling back from his latest knee injury, while Michael Svensson (Achilles), Wayne Thomas (knee) and
Jamie White (ankle) remain long-term absentees.
Defender Joseph Mills was this week loaned to League One Scunthorpe.
Dave Jones will have to assess the fitness of a host of players before taking his Cardiff side to face his former employers.
Striker Michael Chopra (heel), defenders Roger Johnson (groin) and Kevin McNaughton (hamstring) and midfielders Gavin Rae (hip) and Chris Burke (neck) all picked up problems during Wednesday's goalless draw against QPR.
Jay Bothroyd (calf) and Gabor Gyepes (hamstring) missed the game through injury.
But Jones, who managed Saints between 1997 and 2000, will be hopeful that not all will miss the trip to the south coast as the Bluebirds continue their quest for promotion.
Midfielder Stephen McPhail may come back into the frame having returned to training, but it remains to be seen whether he would be thrown into the action so soon having taken a hefty kick near his stomach.
Dimi Konstantopoulos will continue in goal with Tom Heaton (thigh) and Peter Enckelman (knee) sidelined.
"Chops was struggling with his heel," said manager Dave Jones. "He suffered that problem when he was here before and he has seen the orthotic specialist.
"He did not have a heel support in his boot and, the longer the game went, he felt it. The surface was quite firm.
"It was unfortunate we had only just sent him back onto the pitch when that chance fell to him and he felt the heel again."
