"We have offered an attractive package and are hopeful Robbie will decide to come to Cardiff City."
It's the first confirmed words that City are looking to bring the former Liverpool striker to Ninian Park. Fowlers agent says there are other offers on the table but it's unlikely Robbie would chose a potential move to Scotland.
"I can't see Rangers or Celtic being an option," said George Scott. "They have each got too many strikers on their books and would need to offload a couple first.
"The one thing Robbie knows he wants is regular first-team football.
"We have got eight offers on the table and Robbie is considering the lot of them.
"Could it be at Cardiff? Why not? I think Cardiff, if they have the ambition, is the sort of place Robbie would thrive at."
With Fowler being such a high earner it would take a fair amount of goodwill on his part and some shrewd negotiating from Ridsdale to put together a package that's workable for both parties.
Ridsdale has also commented on Michael Chopra. One thing concerning supporters is that we could lose Chopra after his excellent scoring record last season.
"But like the bids we've had for other players we've said 'no', we want to try and keep the team together.
"I've gone on record as saying that every player has his price, but so far no one has met the valuation for any of our players," Ridsdale added.
"But we're not going to sell any of our players on the cheap."
The bid, thought to be for £3m for a Championship club has, has been rejected with Chopra agreeing it was a no go.
"Michael has been informed, and agrees with our stance of rejecting it out of hand," said Ridsdale.
Michael Chopra himself would relish ther chance to play alongside Fowler.
"The idea of Robbie Fowler coming here excites me a lot, it would excite anyone," said Chopra.
"For me it would be another legend that I would get the chance to play with, another legendary striker that I could put on the list.
"I've played with Michael Owen and Alan Shearer and I learned a lot from those. I'm sure if Robbie came here I could learn a lot from him as well."
Chopra has set himself a 30 goal target this season. Something he feels he should have achieved last year but some ill discipline let him down.
"Last season I could have hit that mark, but I went through that patch of one goal in 14 games. If I'd scored five or six in that period, I think I'd have hit 30," he told the Echo.
"I know I felt the Championship was too easy at times - hopefully it'll be the same this season and I can continue scoring goals.
"I also felt I let a lot of people down with the way I was reacting to referees.
"This year you'll see a totally different Michael Chopra on the pitch - I'll be a lot more professional.
"It's mainly down to experience - as you get older, you learn more."
