The early table doens't usually mean much until maybe three games are played and we start to see a pattern forming (remember the days when the papers didn't actually publish a table until three games had been played?)
Norwich lead the way after their 4 - 1 demolition of Blackburn Rovers with Q.P.R. in second following their 3 - 0 win over Leeds on Sunday.
Game of the day has to be Forest's 4 - 3 victory over newly promoted Burton while Ipswich also scored four when beating Barnsley and there were also wins for Bristol City, Huddersfield, Ipswich and Reading. On Friday night Fulham upset the odds by beating title favourites Newcastle Utd at Craven Cottage.
The final game of the weekend saw Sheffield Wednesday beat Aston Villa 1 - 0 at Hillsborough.
