His contract has expired and the club are not renewing it. It's speculated he'll be joining Sheffield Wednesday later this week.
Purse's form has been erratic at times and he's missed a chuck of this season because of the good form of Gabor Gyepes but one thing Darren was for this club was an Ambassador. If the rest of the squad showed some of the passion and professionalism that Purse showed then we'd not be licking our wounds now about missing the play offs.
Good luck to Darren Purse and his family. If he does sign for another Championship club at least he'l get the chance to play in the new stadium. He deserves that.
