Purse overcomes problem with his ring, for now

It's been reported that Purse has never taken off his wedding ring and chooses to cover the ring with tape before matches.

The referee prior to the match with Twente ordered Purse to remove it, the City player refused and sat out the match. Purse was due to be on the bench.

It appears the FAW policy is for the complete removal of jewellery.

Purse played last night at Haverfordwest as City won 3 - 1. He played with a fully bandaged wrist claiming a jarred hand.

There's a fairly lengthy story (here) in the Western mail this morning quoting FIFA and the FAW.

We'll have to wait and see if it affects Purse when the new season starts in the Football league.
