"It's not a grudge match tomorrow and it won't be when we play at Stoke next month. We all know we did not perform in the second leg of the play-offs two seasons ago.
"Maybe we were too afraid of losing instead of going out and winning it. As Stoke City were my former club maybe I took it hard and was more disappointed than I should have been.
"Now, though, it's all about Cardiff and how well we play."
Lennie Lawrence (South Wales Echo)
(Lennie was reluctant to talk about his team selection but did refer to the play off defeat in 2002)
"Everybody will always remember that game, but a lot of Stoke's players have changed - and their manager has changed three times since then.
"The main point tomorrow is that this is the last game of a spell when our squad has been severely tested."
Stoke boss Tony Pulis (from the Stoke Sentinel)
"We still haven't been able to put out our strongest team and that's been a major disappointment.
"You look at other clubs and they've been putting the same team out week-in, week-out. People say it's excuses, but it's reasons, and reasons which are staring people in the face.
"Our first-half display against Sheffield United last week was our best yet this season.
"And it was no coincidence we started that game playing the 4-4-2 I want and with something close to a settled back four - before injuries kicked in again.
"Ninian Park is always a difficult place to play - and they will be looking for the play-offs this season after spending so much money."
