Gus Poyet

"I'm disappointed we didn't win, but I'm very proud with the way we played football. We needed to bring the three players on, we needed quality and we got it.

"Sometimes you need to be patient and believe in what you do. Sometimes decisions work for you.

"I don't like draws, we like to win, but it was a great game for us because we took all the responsibility in the match."

Poyet said: "I said to my assistant, Mauricio Taricco, after just five minutes that we would need Sam (Vokes - who socred the late equaliser) in this game, I knew he would be coming off the bench. He's that type of player and he was going to be my first change. He needs to take his chances but he's been doing really well."

Malky Mackay

"It's always disappointing when you don't quite manage the win, but the manner in which we played leaves me much happier than in the last two weeks.

"I think Brighton are a good team, especially at home, and you don't come here to be naive.

"Some of our football in the second half was very pleasing and I think this performance sets us up for the final 12 games and we need to find our consistency."

On Peter Whittingham's goal Malky said: "It was a top effort. That is the quality of Peter. Brighton are unbeaten in the league since the start of the year so come here and score two goals is terrific. Both goals were of a high quality.

"We must now stick together in our last 12 games especially as we have not been at our best in the last few weeks."
