Possible loans out and a triallist in

Last updated : 11 November 2004 By Michael Morris
Todays Echo is claiming that City are trying to loan out Rhys Weston and Andy Campbell.

Rhys was overlooked for the right back role against Portsmouth with Tony Vidmar being played out of position. With Darren Williams first choice and Byron Anthony aparrantly ahead of Rhys in the order then a loan move to give the player first team action is a good move.

Campbell is returning from a calf injury and is better off elsewhere. His form has slumped at City and he is behind Lee, Parry, Thorne, Jerome and Fleetwood.

Chris Barker benefitted from a month at Stoke. Since his return he's made the left back spot his own.

Toni Koskela
Sky Sports
are reporting that we are taking Finnish Under-21 international Toni Koskela on trial. The 21 year old is said to be in Cardiff for the next two weeks.

Finnish football fan Micke, has posted this information about the player to our messageboard.

"The Kotka midfielder is in Cardiff for a week, apparently some other clubs interested too. H: 187 B: 16.2.1983 Last season started 25 games, 4 goals 5 assists.

Big, creative central midfielder with great free kicks. Very good at holding on to the ball due to a combination of good technique, size and strength. Made a breakthrough this season and was called up to the U21 team on a couple of occasions. Playmaker for Kotka that had a surprisingly good season. Late in the season he also played as a defensive midfielder, as Kotka groomed young Teemu Turunen (18) to be the new playmaker. Koskela did fairly well there too, but an attacking role is clearly better for him.

Koskela is a player that will have a career outside of Finland, but I'm not so sure if it's good to go right now. One season more in Finland being the top midfielder in the league perhaps could do good. Due to past injuries he hasn't played that much yet on a high level. He had a bad knee injury to start season 2002 that wiped out that year and in 2003 you could still see the effects of the injury. Now he is fully recovered and played without injuries all 2004. He isn't injury prone, just had that one serious injury. In two, three years time I see him as the main substitute for Mika Väyrynen (Heerenveen) and Alexei Eremenko Jr. (Lecce) on the Finnish NT.
