The journey has rarely been a happy one in the past with just one win from 12 visits. That came in 1986.
Just one point and two places seperate the teams as they both look to nudge into the play off places. Last weekend saw Cardiff draw at home with Ipswich while Peterborough were the latest side to be given three points by Bristol City.
Lee Tomlin is expected to keep his place in the Peterborough team.
Tomlin was restored to the starting XI against Bristol City on Saturday after making a speedy recovery from ankle ligament damage and scored as Posh won 2-1 at Ashton Gate.
The forward was withdrawn with six minutes remaining and complained of soreness in his ankle after the game. He will continue to be assessed but should line up against the Welsh club.
Peterborough picked up no new injuries at the weekend, so David Hibbert and Scott Wootton remain the only absentees.
On-loan Manchester United defender Wootton may need an operation on his injured knee and it is not yet known how long he will be out.
Malky Mackay, meanwhile, is resigned to losing Kenny Miller ahead of the clash with Peterborough.
Miller has been out of action for almost three weeks with a groin problem, and missed the 2-2 draw with Ipswich on Saturday.
And, although it looks likely the Scot will return this weekend, Mackay told the Western Mail he is anticipating the striker will not be available at London Road.
"We will give Kenny every chance, but he's not trained very much and it will be touch and go for Peterborough," he said.
"I think everything being equal we will have him back for the weekend."
