The game ended 1 - 1 with Luigi Glombard scoring City's equaliser after Kanu scored a first half opener. The former Arsenal and WBA striker is close to completing a move to Pompey.
Portsmouth included the aforementioned Kanu and two other new signings Sol Campbell and David James in their side. The game was arranged to give Campbell the chance to get fit ahead of the Premiership kick off this coming weekend. City were available after their planned reserve game with Weymouth, due to be played today at Ninian Park, was postponed.
City started with Glombard and Kevin Campbell up front and also included Roger Johnson, Chris Barker and Jeff Whitley in the team.
