"I was in the bar on only my second day at the hotel and I just bumped into Robbie. Obviously we talked about his future," said Ridsdale.
"Robbie has been frustrated by injuries this season and he wants to remain at Cardiff and prove his fitness.
"I'm putting a package together where he gets rewarded for the games he plays and there is deal to be done, but it's up to Robbie next.
"It's an opportunity for Robbie and a structured contract is there for him under reduced terms from last season that would suit every party.
"He has expressed to me that he's happy to remain, but it has to go through his agent, something which I will take up on next week."
Ridsdale continued: "Jimmy's situation is different as he proved his fitness by the amount of games he played for the club last term.
"The agent issue is again something that I need to sort out when I'm back in the office next week.
"The two players want to remain at the club and be part of what we are trying to do and they each know the new terms of their contracts.
"If they want to take that opportunity on, they will be on reduced terms compared with last term."
