The 24-year-old has agreed what Cardiff say is an "initial" four-year deal and becomes manager Erol Bulut’s sixth new addition of the summer.

The former Norway Under-21 international arrives as Luton Town look to complete a move for Cardiff’s Mark McGuinness.

Bulut said: “We tried to get him in January, but it was not possible because the club would not let him go. He is a great defender, but also with the ball in the build-up, he will help us a lot.

“He can play from the left side and use both feet, which is very important for us. The fans will enjoy him.”

Daland completed his medical on Monday and arrives in Wales after three years in Belgian football, where he made 118 appearances and scored four goals.

The deal is subject to international clearance but Daland is expected to be available for Sunday’s south Wales derby fixture against Swansea City.

“I'm ready to go. I've played a few games already this season. I'm very excited and looking forward to the journey ahead," Daland said.

“I've heard a lot about what will hopefully be my first game. It's a real derby. I can't ask for a better game to start. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere.

“Obviously, the game is special for the fans and for everyone here. I'll do everything I can for this club.”

Cardiff, who have also signed defender Calum Chambers from Aston Villa this summer, are also targeting a move for Manchester United youngster Will Fish.
