What a day at Hull City yesterday. After Fulham's 2 - 1 win over Sunderland on Friday the pressure was well and truly on Cardiff City to get a victory over the hosts to go into the final day in control of their own destiny. And they delivered with a 2 nil win against a lively Tigers side but ultimately a toothless one.
Fulham's march has been relentless and they have gone over half a season unbeaten but thanks to Sean Morrison's two goals the initiative is still Cardiff City's when the final games are played next Sunday (12:30pm - Cardiff v Reading is live on Sky).
Morrison headed home a Joe Ralls corner in the first half and made the game safe with his second, a strikers finish, when he found himself free in the box in the 80th minute after a blistering breakaway by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
The scenes were incredible, 2,700 travelling City fans going absolutely crazy and they backed the side from kick off until the final whistle. If the Derby defeat was disappointing this win was joyous and showed the character of the management and players to put on a professional show.
This now means Cardiff need to match Fulham's result next week to win automatic promotion to the Premier League. A Cardiff win guarantee's it, as does a Fulham defeat.
Cardiff play Reading (who lost 4 - 0 at home yesterday) while Fulham go to Birmingham. There's an outside chance that one of Reading or Birmingham could be relegated so they have something to play for.
