Oldham in crisis.

A website has been set up to promoted the fund raising that is hoped will bring in enough money to save the club. http://www.keep-the-faith.co.uk/

Cardiff City are said to be interested in two Oldham defenders, Fitz Hall and Chris Armstrong. It was suggested a £400,000 deal could see the Bluebirds pick up both players. Hall himself is rated at £1m. Now though as Oldham are facing possible extinction and cannot meet players wages both men could walk away, as did Steve Jenkins from Huddersfield, free of charge. Failure to pay the players their wages is a breach of contract and the individuals are free to walk and sign for new clubs.

If the players do not get paid today then they can leave 14 days later.

Oldham are looking for an investor to come in and take over after their major shareholder has refused to keep ploughing in money to the club. One offer to take over the club was rejected and a £250,000 investement is need to cover the salaries and associated costs that are due and will keep the club running for at least another month. The stumbling block for potetial new investors is who pays off the debt now hanging around the Latics neck.

It's not just Cardiff keeping a close eye on the situation, other clubs have been linked to these players.

There is a moral dilema here. Shoud the clubs interested in these players make a cash offer that would 1, secure their services and 2, possible save Oldham Athletic or should Oldham be left to rue their bad fortune with the players being snapped up for nothing?
