City finally found themselves an away win in 2012 and sent the 840 or so travelling fans away from Ashton Gate with smiles on their faces.
It wasn't a classic but Cardiff found themselves in front at half time after a neat period of passing saw Joe Mason in possession on the right side of the box. His ball into the six yard box was delflected past David James by defender Stephen McManus.
The goal came in an extended period of stoppage time because of a head injury to Aron Gunnarsson. The blood and bandage added a warrior like quality to Gunnarsson who was one of City's better performers on the day. Another one was David Marshall he could do nothing about Jon Stead's equaliser that went in off the post but he made a few quality saves after that to keep the score at 1 - 1.
And then as the clock ticked towards the 90th minute we saw a repeat of Cardiff's first goal. Mason was fed superbly by Peter Whittingham and his ball across the six yard box from the left hand side was deflected off Khalifa Cissé past David James who was left sat on his backside (pictured).
The win was welcomed just as voiciferously in the Duke of Clarence in Canton where I watched the game. The 40 or so City fans danced with joy as the winner his the back of the net.
The victory sees City move upto 6th place and they now face three home games in a row starting with Hull City on Tuesday.
