"I am not going to make any comment about the manager. If in the future there is anything to say, I will say it," Ridsdale told the Western Mail.
"What I need to do is have a period of quiet reflection on recent events.
"The result at Charlton was deeply disappointing, very frustrating and in the end football is about results.
"I understand that at a time like this the responsibility does fall on myself as chairman to make the right decision for Cardiff City FC.
"Supporters can rest assured that is what I will do. I will make the right decision for this club.
"I would like to assure supporters I am hurting as much as they are. People know I am a football man and when we lose it hurts me as much as anyone."
There are concerns that City cannot afford to sack Jones after he was given an improved contract last summer but Ridsdale has dismissed those thoughts.
"We do not have any financial issues which would have an impact on us making the right decision," said Ridsdale.
I mentioned in a previous story that Ridsdale had been the victim of verbal abuse from a City fan at Charlton. Passions were running high with fans squaring upto each other in the stands and then some idiot had to take it further and attack the chairman.
"I have had worse, to be honest with you," Ridsdale continued.
"The person claimed he was a Cardiff City fan from Birmingham, but I won't repeat what he said to me because I think readers of the Western Mail would be shocked by it.
"But I understand how passionate fans are and how concerned many are by the situation at the moment.
"I am as passionate as anyone out there and only want what is for the best for the club."
