The 21 year old suffered serious head injuries and was in intensive care for several weeks.
Now just a week after leaving hospital he has engaged himself in some light training.
'Nicky has done a little bit of walking and jogging and started the process of getting him back up to a level of fitness,' Dave Jones told the Echo. 'But there can be no physical contact yet until after he has seen the neuro-surgeon again.
'It's great to see him back. We'll take our time with Nicky, allow him to progress at his pace. After all, he has been out for nine weeks. The lads are really pleased to see him back out on the training ground.'
