Dwight Gayle was voted PFA Fans' Championship Player of the Month for October after scoring four goals in a run of victories that has taken Newcastle clear at the top of the Championship.
He was the run away winner with Cardiff City's Peter Whittingham in 4th place. Gayle scooped around 75% of the vote.
But he may not face Cardiff this weekend. He's recoved from an injury and is back in training after missing a couple of games but manager Rafa Benitez may opt to have on the bench and use him if needed.
Newcastle are set to start with Aleksandar Mitrovic up front, he has scored seven times this season despite missing the opening four games of the campaign through suspension.
