It’s central, cheap(er) and almost like being back home. NicM, Bluebirds DownUnder’s Venue Organiser has found the Kauri Hotel, a smallish pub in Glebe, and the landlord is keen to do anything within reason to have Bluebirds DownUnder make it their new home. He is currently working on getting Brains Beer imported. (seriously) The Italian chef is learning how to make faggots, mushie peas, chips and gravy, and Captain Rich is currently in contact with SA Brains in Cardiff to get beer mats, posters, t shirts and other Brains merchandise sent over. So, that’s where they will be having their next Sydney gathering.
For those who will be attending, don’t eat beforehand. As a way of welcoming Bluebirds DownUnder to the Kauri Hotel, the Landlords Tristan Snr & Tristan Jnr are putting on a ***FREE*** bar-b-que. They have also purchased a new DVD player so that those attending will be able to watch a programme of CCFC Greatest Moments, or something like that, provided by Jim Welsh. They are getting some Welsh music, Bryn Terfel, Max Boyce, Manic Street Preachers & Stereophonics, WHAT A MIXTURE and also running a raffle with first prize being one of the fantastic new Bluebirds DownUnder T shirts. And, to cap that off, if any members decide they don’t want to drive home, The Kauri Hotel is offering Bluebirds DownUnder members a special accommodation deal of $30 per night including continental breakfast.
