More Sullivan in the papers, he attacks City's debt

David Sullivan has questioned the debt hanging around Cardiff City. The story below is from todays Western Mail.

There is another City related offering, this time on Europe. David Temme speaks about the City in Europe situation.

DAVID SULLIVAN last night laid into under-fire Cardiff City owner Sam Hammam for racking up a £30m-plus debt at Ninian Park.

Birmingham City's Penarth-born owner also dismissed suggestions that he will be riding to the rescue of his home-town club. Sullivan, who has a personal fortune estimated at £550m, is ready to sell his 41 per cent stake in the Premier club and take his money elsewhere because he is fed up travelling back and fore to St Andrews from his Essex mansion.

Championship strugglers Cardiff have been mentioned as a possible target, along with Tottenham and West Ham. But Sullivan has all but ruled out taking the crisis-torn Welsh club off Hammam's hands - especially since they are reputed to be at least £30m in the red.

"I can't believe the size of Cardiff's debt and I can't believe the banks have allowed it to get that big."

WALES' Big Three of Cardiff City, Swansea City and Wrexham last night told the FAW, "It's time to end the farce and get us back into Europe."

The Football League clubs spelled out their message as the FAW prepare to meet today to discuss the trio's exile from European competition once more.

The new FAW move comes after the English FA formally made a ruling last month stating they would NEVER nominate the Welsh clubs into Europe should any of our trio do well in the Carling Cup, FA Cup or Premiership.

Cardiff believe a way forward simply MUST be found this time - even if it means lobbying at the highest levels of FIFA and UEFA.
