Celtic's David Fernandez has told the Echo today
"I could not have a medical last night because Cardiff played Kilmarnock, but I'm due to have one today. Both clubs are closing on the deal and all I have been thinking about over the last few days is playing for Cardiff."
Fernandez is 29 and started his career with Deportivo before moving to Airdrie and then Celtic. He's a striker.
We are also waiting for news on the triallists Phil Mulryne, Jamie McCunnie and Andreas Ferretti - all of them have impressed in the pre season games so far.
City also have a Nigerian striker on trial. As earlier reported an unidentified forward came on against Kilmarnock last night and his identity still remains a mystery. Dave Jones is keeping him a secret by refusing to reveal his name in case other clubs are alerted.
The BBC seem to think Cardiff are trying to finalise the signing of Ferretti and Fernandez as well as Purse and probably McCunnie and Mulryne to make it 5 new signings.
