Daniel Gabbidon and Robert Page started for Wales against the Azerri and when Gary Speed scored early in the second half things were looking good for the start of Wales' World Cup campaign. It didn't last long though as a 35 yard free kick found it's way past Paul Jones.
James Collins was an unused sub while Robert Earnshaw, who came on for the last few minutes saw his header hit a post.

Graham Kavanagh played the full 90 mins as Ireland secured a comfortable win over Cyprus. Kav ended the game though with an ankle problem. He will be hoping to play on Wednesday but could miss out to the returning Roy Keane.
Alan Lee played out the last 10 mins. Both Kav and Lee are named in Ireland's squad for the trip to Switzerland.
