Andreas Cornelius met the media this morning with boss Malky Mackay. The young Danish striker said his transfer all happened very quickly.
“It was a bit of a surprise. I did not know Copenhagen were going to let me go. It all went quickly. But I just felt that it was the right decision to make.
“I see the price paid as a motivation for me. If Cardiff want to pay that amount of money for me then I must be good and they must believe that I’m good."
And he's settled into his new surroundings.
“It’s been easy to settle in. Everyone is very friendly at Cardiff,” said Cornelius.
“I’m very excited to move here. This is a great opportunity. There is a great squad to work with and I’m looking forward to it.
Mackay admitted he has been aware of the man from Copenhagen for a while.
"He has great potential, and is a good capture," he said.
"We tracked him over last year - it was a contact in Denmark who put us on to him.
"By Christmas he was in such form we really didn't think we had much chance of getting him, because top clubs around Europe were watching closely.
"It turned out we were able to do things quickly, and I have to give special mention to Copenhagan - they were tremendous: efficient, professional and friendly.
"We were in competition internationally with another club at the time, and very soon afterwards three other Premier League clubs moved in to try and take him as well.
"I'm delighted we have signed him.
"Here is somebody who has burst onto the scene in Denmark, he has played games at international level as well, he is starting centre-forward for national team and that shows they value him highly."
