The Bluebirds are fifth in the Championship but are down to the bare bones with top scorer Peter Whittingham the latest addition to the injury list.
And the club's financial crisis has prevented boss Dave Jones from strengthening his side.
"The last couple of weeks have become hard for us," said defender McNaughton.
"We've had to throw in a couple of the young lads but we've coped well under the circumstances.
"We're using everybody in the squad and it's the nature of the beast in the league.
"But we can't really afford to get many more injuries. Our main threat is going forward and if we keep our strikers fit we've got a great chance."
Whittingham claimed his 19th goal of the season from the penalty spot after eight minutes of Tuesday's draw but left the field 19 minutes later with a groin injury, although it is not know how serious it is yet.
Striker Jay Bothroyd played through the pain barrier and as well as suffering with cramp while midfielders Gavin Rae and Aaron Wilding also battled on, but Darcy Blake was out injured.
Fellow midfielder Stephen McPhail has already been ruled out for four weeks with two cracked ribs, while captain Mark Hudson and midfielder Joe Ledley face long spells on the sidelines after undergoing ankle and hip surgery respectively.
Jones' squad was also hit by a virus over the Christmas and New Year period to add to his woes.
"The one thing about this league is the games come thick and fast," added Scotland international McNaughton. "If we don't keep all our players fit it will become difficult.
"I think there were a few tired legs out there.
"I think both teams had to grind out a valuable point in the end and hopefully we will look back on this as a good point."
